Only in Syracuse Weather

These pictures, all taken within 24 hours of each other, illustrate how the weather can instantaneously change in and around Syracuse when snow is in the radar. This morning made me think Spring was in the air; this afternoon made me think I wish I was in Florida!

A Parent’s Love

Who can you really turn to when the chips are down?

My parents at a wedding

My parents on 8/2010 (today they’re 86 & 92 yrs young)

A Parents Heart

© Ann T. Tran

When you feel like breaking down or crashing in,
Who do you turn to, to forgive your sin?
When you cried your lonely tears,
Who will be there to fight your fears?
And when it feels like no one would understand,
Who was there to hold your hand?

There are people whom you can’t replace,
They’re the ones who gave you your face.
They’ll love you through thick and thin,
They show you the light from deep within.
And if by chance, you happen to die,
They’ll be the ones who will really cry.

You see, my friend, there’s no one who can love you more,
Then your very own parents, that’s for sure.
Always remember that this is true,
That wherever you go, your parents will be there for you.

Bag Doggie wearing lipstick

NO, I HAVEN’T SEEN YOUR LIPSTICK!

Why would you even ask me that?

I am so insulted!
Every time something goes missing around here,
everybody looks at me!

Day Trip to Rosamond Gifford Zoo at Burnet Park

2010 trip to Rosamond Gifford Zoo w/ Kelly, K, C, S and BellaLast year I was able to fit into my schedule a day trip to the Rosamond Gifford Zoo with  my daughter-in-law Kelly and four of my grandchildren Katie, Caleb, Sarah and Bella.  It was a memorable day but the pictures I took came out so good that I couldn’t resist posting some of them here to share.

Never have I seen the bear out in such public display as this trip.  It2010 Zoo Visit w/Bear at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo was  awesome and the picture says it all.

2010 Rosamond Gifford Zoo Visit with WolfNow I don’t have a fancy camera by any means, but this one wolf in particular just laid there posing for me in a way that I could not take a bad picture of him if I tried!

And the caribou, WOW!  What a beautiful up close and personal shot this was.  Handsome Caribou at Rosamond Gifford Zoo Nice set of racks!!

And talk about up close and personal, check out Caleb as the very young keeper of the birds volunteer provides him with information specific to the bird he is holding (which I’m not sure what it is but if I had to guess I would say it was a falcon).Falcon Bird with Caleb at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo 2010

All in all I think everyone had a good time.  What kid doesn’t like going to the zoo?  What adult doesn’t like going to the zoo if not just to see the enjoyment on the faces of children?

Syracuse Orange 4-Legged Basketball Cheerleaders

We’re Orange in the house – Syracuse Orange that is.

So why wouldn’t the girls (Libby Lu and Ginger) be Orange also?  They’re always content to strut their stuff for a couple of happy hours wearing their cute blue & orange outfits.  Happy hour you ask?

Wouldn’t you be happy too if you got hand fed restaurant style Tostitos and buttery pretzels??

Yeah, GO ORANGE!

ALERT – POSSIBLE DOGGIE KIDNAPPER IN AREA

Be on the lookout for a young beautiful female, possibly a teenager, posing as a sweet and overly affectionate doggie lover

She was recently seen carrying an oversized bag in the LaFayette area.  Note:  The bag is large enough to hide a small 13ish lb dog who could very easily succumb to her friendliness, kindness and warmth.

What dog?  I don’t see a dog.

Crushed couch pillows anyone?

How many dogs do you see in this picture?

All About Libby Lu Jenkins…and…Ginger, too!

Libby Lu, so lonely as the only canine member of the family, was instrumental in choosing her adopted canine sister, Ginger .

Ginger’s 1st family brought her from Syracuse to our house to meet and greet Libby Lu and test the waters during the latter part of summer 2010. It was love at first sight for everyone involved.  Both girls ran around the yard (fenced in, of course) until they dropped.  Both families laughed at their antics and were thrilled that Gingie felt so much at ease at our homestead.  Ginger melted our hearts and we’re so happy to have had her join our family.  It was a little touch and go developing her relationship with Tuxedo our cat (who outweighs the dog by 1 lb) but surprisingly within a week the three of them were napping together.  (I have to admit, against the advice of an animal behaviour specialist, we had to chase her around with the squirt gun during that period but all ended well.)  Libby, a 22 lb Puggle (Pug + Beagle) and Gingie, a 13 lb Jug (Jack Russell Terrier + Pug) share January 2009 as their birth month.  No more vegetating alone on the couch for Libby.  Both dogs play hard and rest hard together.

I believe that the ‘love at first sight’ relationship between the two dogs as well as the open affection we displayed for Ginger made it a little easier for Ginger’s 1st family to acknowledge us as acceptable adoptive doggie parents.   I consider this to be a successful open ‘canine’ adoption as I will continue to provide Gingie’s 1st family with electronical doggie updates and photos of her continued growth in the future.

E-Mail Tracker Programs

Any time you see an email that says “forward this on to ’10’ (or however many) of your friends”, “sign this petition”, or “you’ll get bad luck” or “you’ll get good luck” or “you’ll see something funny on your screen after you send it” or whatever — it almost always has an email tracker program attached that tracks the cookies and emails of those folks you forward to. The host sender is getting a copy each time it gets forwarded and then is able to get lists of ‘active’ email addresses to use in SPAM emails or sell to other spammers.  Even when you get emails that demand you end the email on if you’re not ashamed of God/Jesus — that is email tracking, and they are playing on our conscience.  These people don’t care how they get your email addresses – just as long as they get them.  Also, emails that talk about a missing child or a child with an incurable disease “how would you feel if that was your child” — email tracking.  Ignore them and don’t participate!

Almost all emails that ask you to add your name and forward on to others are similar to that mass letter years ago that asked people to send business cards to the little kid in Florida who wanted to break the Guinness Book of Records for the most cards.  All it was, and all any of this type of email is, is a way to get names and ‘cookie’ tracking information for telemarketers and spammers — to validate active email accounts for their own profitable purposes. You can do your Friends and Family members a GREAT favor by sending this information to them.  You will be providing a service to your friends.  And you will be rewarded by not getting thousands of spam emails in the future!

Do yourself a favor and STOP adding your name(s) to those types of listing regardless how inviting they might sound! Or make you feel guilty if you don’t! It’s all about getting email addresses and nothing more. You may think you are supporting a GREAT cause, but you are NOT! Instead, you will be getting tons of junk mail later and very possibly a virus attached!  Plus, we are helping the spammers get rich!  Let’s not make it easy for them!

ALSO:  Email petitions are NOT acceptable to Congress of any other organization – i.e. social security, etc.  To be acceptable, petitions must have a “signed signature” and full address of the person signing the petition, so this is a waste of time and you are just helping the email trackers.
